Popular Life Insurance PLC has handed over insurance claim cheques worth Tk 92.1 million to policyholders in Chandpur and Narayanganj, reaffirming its commitment to settling claims and meeting its obligations to customers.
Of the total amount, Tk 50.2 million was distributed in Chandpur, while policyholders in Narayanganj received cheques worth Tk 41.9 million. The distributions took place at separate events organised by the company in the two districts.
The Chandpur event was held on Sunday, 11 October, at the Chandpur Press Club Community Centre. Earlier, on Friday, 9 October, the company distributed insurance claim cheques to customers in Narayanganj at the seminar room of its own office in the district.
B M Yusuf Ali, managing director and chief executive officer of Popular Life Insurance PLC, attended both events as the chief guest. Other senior officials were also present, including Additional Managing Director B M Shawkat Ali, Senior Deputy Managing Director Syed Motahar Hossain, Deputy Managing Director Md Khalilur Rahman Sikder and SED Mohammad Selim Mia.
At the Chandpur event, additional special guests included Deputy Managing Director Md Kamal Hossain Mohsin and Executive Directors Md Mahbubur Rahman and Md Billal Hossain. The programme was chaired by Md Delwar Hossain, the company’s project in-charge.
In Narayanganj, Executive Director Sajjad Mahmud Kishore attended as a special guest, while Executive Director Md Mahbubur Rahman chaired the programme.
Speaking at the two events, Yusuf Ali highlighted the role of insurance in providing financial protection against uncertainty. He said insurance could help individuals and families manage financial risks and offer a measure of security when unexpected circumstances arise.
He also said Popular Life Insurance was working to ensure transparency, accountability and timely settlement of policyholders’ claims. According to him, meeting customers’ legitimate claims is a key responsibility of an insurance company and an important factor in maintaining public confidence in the sector.
Addressing the Narayanganj event, Yusuf Ali described the handover of claim cheques as a reflection of the company’s responsibility towards its policyholders. He emphasised that customers purchase insurance with the expectation of receiving financial support when the terms of their policies entitle them to claim benefits.
The settlement of insurance claims is a significant part of the relationship between insurers and policyholders. Customers rely on the terms of their policies when planning for future financial security, making clear procedures and the timely payment of valid claims essential to building trust.
The combined distribution of Tk 92.1 million in Chandpur and Narayanganj represents the company’s latest reported claim-payment activity in the two districts. However, the company’s announcement did not specify the number of policyholders who received the cheques or provide a breakdown of the claims by policy type.
The events also provided an opportunity for the company’s senior management to communicate its stated priorities regarding customer service, accountability and the fulfilment of insurance commitments.
