Purabi General Insurance Reports Higher Third-Quarter Earnings

Purabi General Insurance PLC, a company listed on Bangladesh’s stock market, has reported an increase in earnings per share (EPS) for the third quarter of 2026, according to its unaudited financial statements.

The insurer recorded earnings per share of Tk 0.62 for the July–September quarter, compared with Tk 0.45 in the same period a year earlier. The increase of Tk 0.17 represents growth of approximately 37.8 per cent year on year.

The company’s financial results also showed an improvement in earnings over the first nine months of 2026. For the January–September period, its earnings per share stood at Tk 1.46, up from Tk 1.23 during the corresponding period of the previous year. This represents an increase of Tk 0.23, or around 18.7 per cent.

The figures indicate that the company recorded higher earnings both in the latest quarter and over the nine-month period. However, EPS alone does not provide a complete picture of an insurer’s financial performance, which also depends on factors such as premium income, claims liabilities, operating expenses and investment returns.

Purabi General Insurance also reported a substantial rise in net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) for the first nine months of 2026. The figure reached Tk 1.75, compared with Tk 0.93 in the same period a year earlier. The increase of Tk 0.82 represents growth of approximately 88.2 per cent.

Operating cash flow measures the cash generated or used by a company through its ordinary business activities. For investors, the indicator can offer a useful perspective on cash movements alongside reported earnings. An improvement in cash flow may provide additional insight into a company’s operating performance, although its significance depends on the sources of cash and the timing of receipts and payments.

The company’s net asset value per share (NAVPS) stood at Tk 15.08 as of 30 June 2026, according to the reported figures. NAVPS is generally calculated by subtracting a company’s liabilities from its assets and dividing the resulting net asset value by the number of relevant shares. It is one of several measures investors may use when assessing a company’s financial position.

The market price of a share, however, can differ from its net asset value per share. Investors typically consider NAVPS alongside earnings, cash flow, business prospects and wider market conditions rather than relying on a single financial indicator.

The latest unaudited results present a mixed range of information about the company’s financial position, with year-on-year growth in both quarterly and nine-month earnings and a marked increase in operating cash flow per share. These figures provide a basis for assessing recent performance, but the unaudited status of the statements means they should be considered in the context of the company’s complete financial disclosures.

For investors in Bangladesh’s insurance sector, the results offer an update on Purabi General Insurance’s earnings and cash flow during the first three quarters of 2026. A fuller assessment would require consideration of the company’s revenue, expenses, claims obligations, investment performance and other details contained in its financial statements.
